Clinical Services

At The Cognitive Neurology Clinic, we offer specialized, evidence-based care for persons undergoing cognitive, behavioral, and neurological changes. Our clinical services are designed to provide accurate diagnosis, thoughtful intervention, and ongoing support for various conditions affecting brain health.

Cognitive and Behavioral Management

We help patients and families navigate the challenges of cognitive disorders with evidence-based treatment plans, which may include:

  • Medication management
  • Behavioral strategies
  • Support for emotional and psychological well-being
  • Lifestyle recommendations for brain health
  • Rehabilitation programs

Patient and Family Counseling

We provide education and guidance to support patients and caregivers in understanding diagnoses, setting goals, and planning for the future. Our approach emphasizes dignity, autonomy, and collaborative care.

Follow-Up and Continuity of Care

We believe that cognitive care is not one-size-fits-all. Ongoing follow-up helps us monitor changes over time, adjust treatments, and provide continued support as needs evolve.

We are dedicated to combining clinical expertise with compassionate care. Whether you are seeking a first evaluation or long-term support, we are here to provide clarity and direction.

Cogworks

Cogworks is an enrichment program for patients with dementia that has been running at the Annasawmy Mudaliar General Hospital since 2018. The program had to be closed during COVID to maintain the safety of our patients. We restarted Cogworks in the second half of 2021, after the height of the pandemic had passed. Being mindful of everyone’s health, we started slowly and made sure to follow COVID-19 protocols, including wearing masks, sanitising, and avoiding physical contact. We started with only 2 patients in September, and now we have between 10 and 15 patients who are Cogworks regulars.

Patients are given the chance to participate in any activity of their choice – including playing a game of carrom, engaging in upcycled art, baking, and tailoring, with volunteers to help them along the way. The day ends with an hour of exercise and yoga, and we make sure to get a tea break sometime in between. The basement is full of buzz on Tuesdays and Fridays between 10am and 1pm. Do stop by for an interesting story or a light conversation with one of our silvers. We also welcome community volunteers who would like to contribute to the program.

Cogworks | Untangle

In November 2024, we launched Cogworks Untangle, a dedicated program for individuals with mild cognitive impairments. Building on the mission of Cogworks, this new group aims to provide cognitive enrichment, stimulation, learning opportunities, and a space for meaningful social interaction, solidarity, and movement.

The primary goal of Cogworks Untangle is to support participants in staying healthier for longer, slowing the progression of any cognitive conditions they may have, and enhancing the quality of life for both them and their caregivers. Our sessions are designed to be both engaging and impactful.

Participants enjoy cognitively stimulating games, learn and practice strategies they can integrate into their daily lives, and explore their creativity through art projects. We also work together on personal goals that participants set for themselves, fostering a sense of purpose and achievement. Reading sessions and lively discussions further enrich the experience, encouraging connection and critical thinking.

Cogworks Untangle is more than just a program – it’s a community that nurtures growth, well-being, and joy. Together, we create moments of enrichment, connection, and care.
